Rudbeckia hirta 'Marmalade' Seeds

A short-lived, half-hardy perennial, often grown as an annual. This cone flower performs brilliantly in a sunny border, but can be grown in large pots too. The flowers will attract bees and butterflies from all around, and also make excellent cut flowers.

Sowing/Flowering Info:
Feb-Apr, sow indoors 5mm deep in moist seed compost. Propagate at 15-20°C until germination. Transplant seedlings into individual pots, handling by the leaves rather than the stem. Acclimatise before planting out 30cm apart when risk of frost has passed. Sow directly where they are to flower Apr-May in fine, pre-watered soil, 1.5cm deep.
Aftercare:
Protect young plants from frosts. Regular dead heading of spent flowers will encourage flowering. For cut flowers, pick when bud is starting to show colour.
